10 Commandments of Design November 21, 2007

TreeHugger goes on and on about the importance of design; convincing folks to design the stuff we consume so that it better reflects the TreeHugger ethic is an extremely important step in moving our planet to a sustainable future. 10 Commandments of Design, conceived by German industrial designer Dieter Rams, sum this up well enough that we could just about put “sustainable” in the middle and call it good. Designers and fans of where stuff comes from, take heed:

1. Good design is innovative
2. Good design makes a product useful
3. Good design is aesthetic
4. Good design helps a product to be understood
5. Good design is unobtrusive
6. Good design is honest
7. Good design is durable
8. Good design is consistent to the last detail
9. Good design is concerned with the environment
10. Good design is a s little design as possible

Happy 1st year Anniversary blog… =) November 11, 2007

This november my official blog is celebrating its 1st year anniversary. I never expected it to last.. and people to even read it. I begin with this blog in sheer boredom and curiosity on “blogging”. This blog contains almost everything.. from my basic interest, my latest finds, inspirations, my new collection and events for one whole year.

To those who are part of my friends in the ever popular Facebook, as my status clearly says – Irene is excited for a fun filled week. Why? My friend from LA is coming home. Meaning party almost every night. Numerous out of town trip… But most importantly, I am totally looking forward to get my Japanese Fashion Magazine from him. Since, he’d be staying here in my apartment for a couple of days before we go out of town… I am so determined to get cool dining chairs. It doesn’t have to be expensive. So there, I am still on a look out hopefully i find before he comes over.

I am so desperate to fix my apartment.. I think, the dining chairs will be the first step in fixing my place. Right now, it looks like a storage and work space and not really a home… I just wish, I just have the time. I am thinking of this look….

Rider Collection – up and running November 2, 2007

Check out the new Irene’s closet Rider collection. Motorcycle jacket embellished with vespa and military patches on a striped knitted black and gold turtleneck top. Paired with cool motorcycle leather boots and black pants. I am proud of this new collection. Perfect casual street wear… or a trip out of town .. or malling on a rainy day. Now is the time to be fashionable without getting sweaty and less poised. Be cool…

I am so loving my profile picture in facebook. October 26, 2007

I discovered it while searching thru the web. Years ago before I got into fashion I was so into designer chairs. I would rather buy a La Marie chair by Philippe Starck than buy a Prada bag.. When I saw this poster by Blueantstudio posted in one of my favorite decor blogs I just had save the picture – and put it as my new profile picture in my facebook.

I am very happy with all my new finds of designers/entrepreneur at the store. Designers who put their heart and soul in their designs. Not mass marketed nor commercialize. My new designer is Archie Gonzales. Here are some of his interesting work. Check it out.

Vintage trade signs … my new obsession October 21, 2007

Its fun how one discover something new to obsess upon. It was Mico who introduced me to this vintage trade signs. I soooo love them. I got my first 1960’s authentic trade sign the other day. It is a Robin Hood Hair Pomode I immediately displayed it at the store for others to enjoy too.. If someone gives me a cool offer… maybe I’ll sell it… maybe….

Another cool thing I found today… a vintage fire extinguisher. Cool ha.

Sorry for my absent posting. I got tied up with the store as always – mall wide sale and all other stuff. Finally, I will get to post my new Coochi collection – called Coochi Bambi in 3 exciting colors – Red, Black and Blue.. Check it out.
